About Allison
I taught 10th grade English Language Arts for 5 years. This includes working with Pre-AP and AP students, Special Ed, and ESL students.
My philosophy of education is that students learn best when they are interested in the material. That's why I teach reading and writing through books and topics the students choose.
My first experience teaching was in high school with the Early Childhood Program. I was a sophomore teaching 3rd graders math and reading for 2 hours a day.
After high school, I started the Education program at Texas State University and upon graduation began my teaching and tutoring career.
I majored in English and Philosophy and minored in Secondary Education and Mass Communications.
I am certified to teach EC-6 and 7-12.
I also have an ESL certification.

I like to start off with a few short get-to-know-you activities. I'll also usually perform a diagnostic during the first session to ensure that I know the student's current level and where we should focus our attention for practice in our upcoming sessions.
Grade levels ranging from elementary to college.
