About SASHA
I am a doctoral candidate finishing up my dissertation research to graduate soon from the curriculum and instruction Ph.D. program. I received my master's degree in career and technical education in 2016. I was able to complete my graduate coursework with a 4.0 GPA and my undergraduate bachelor's degree in psychology in 2011 with a 3.5 GPA. I have had to do a lot of academic and research-related writing in my graduate studies. I have 3 years of experience tutoring elementary to high school level students in a variety of academic subjects but specialized in math and AVID College Prep. I was promoted to manage the tutoring program I tutored for as the program coordinator for two years where I recruited, trained, and supervised college students hired as tutors for middle school students. Additionally, I currently homeschool my son who is in 2nd grade. Lastly, I worked as an academic advisor for adults in postsecondary healthcare programs.
I have always enjoyed learning and like helping others learn to like it too. No matter the subject, I do my best to relate the material to real-world examples and try to teach the material in a different way that is more appropriate for the student's learning style, needs, and challenges. I can understand how frustrating it can be when you do not understand an assignment and I like to find ways to break the instructions down so together we can improve the way you are able to complete the work. I am good at creating study guides and improving organization and time management skills.
