About Beth
As a certified English and special education educator at the high school level for 19 years, I have had the opportunity to refine and perfect my ability to teach students at all performance levels, ranging from students in substantially separate classrooms to college preparatory and Advanced Placement English classes. In addition to the English and special education certification, I also obtained a Sheltered English Immersion endorsement and an ESL (English as a Second Language) license in the state of Massachusetts.
I structure lessons so students have access to multiple modes for learning including teacher facilitated learning, peer discussion, and individualized inquiry to name a few. I further believe that students should demonstrated understanding of concepts in multiple forms as well. I place a strong emphasis on skills needed to communicate effectively through both oral and written language. Additionally, I encourage students to express their knowledge creatively through role play, project-based assessments, technology infused presentations, and through online platforms.
