About Jean-Marc

I have over 20 years of tutoring experience in Spanish, English, French and Creative writing in College and at The Language Exchange in Stamford, CT. I am a published author, poet, singer-songwriter and experienced editor, so I not only teach these skills, I'm also constantly honing and sharpening my skills as part of my craft. I'm also passionate about the work I do and my biggest reward is to create light bulb moments for all my students, as they enjoy the learning process. I also customize the lessons to what my students' needs are.

I love creating light bulb moments for my students, to see their faces light up with excitement when they are able to understand something they had previously found puzzling. Also, I love being able to implement creative ways to reach students -- not every student is the same, so I always look to connect with the students for the benefit of their success.

I've been a tutor since High School, when I was asked to help my fellow classmates with English and Writing assignments. Since then, I've tutored students in French, Writing, Spanish, proofreading, and I also teach and voice train public speakers.

I've been a tutor for over 20 years and have worked as copywriter for Reader's Digest, The Westchester Business Journal, and I'm also a published author and singer-songwriter. So I'm constantly honing my craft and applying my skills on my work.

About the lesson

I walk each student through a series of questions to get to the root of what challenges they may be facing. Once I have a better idea of what the challenge is, then we focus our attention on working on ways to improve in that area, and doing exercises that will facilitate the learning process so that they retain what they learn and are able to apply it consistently.

All ages. I've worked with toddlers and with older students as well. My youngest student was 3 years old, and my oldest was 72. I've worked with all ages in between and High School students.

Make sure that you have a conversation with the tutor and the person understands your needs. Also, it's important to click with the tutor, as you're going to be investing a good portion of your time with that person. This will also make it easier to get the results you intend while working with that tutor.

I recently gave a Kids animation workshop and one of my students made a cute drawing of me as a gift. That was his way of saying thank you and letting me know he really enjoyed the class.
