About Ken
As an immigrant myself, I well understand the difficulties faced by new immigrants from non-English speaking countries, and can therefore design lessons tailor-made for each student.
Besides English, I speak fluent Mandarin and Cantonese. For students from China, I share a common heritage and have intimate knowledge of the specific linguistic hurdles Chinese immigrants must overcome.
I have been a tutor for 18 years, and have helped over 100 students pass their initial hurdles, enabling them to enter and fit into an English school or job environment
I started teaching in the local Chinese community center, then went to China for 4 years, where I taught in the Zhu Hai school for froreign languages. My initial motive was to help new immigrant children past their initial problems so they could enter mainstream education, it later grew into a passion for helping all immigrants fit into the local societies in which they found themselves.
I have a teaching certificate from the Zhu Hai school for foreign languages in China, and have been tutoring since 2002.

I would usually conduct a suitability interview to acertain the student's needs, then design a course for him/her. I have a mobility problem, so I only offer lessons online.
Primarily ESL students.
Look for someone who can communicate with you in a language you are comfortable with, and who can make sure your lessons are not above your current abilities.
I'm a very private person, and very rearely share my personal experiences. I ask your forbearance.
