About Dave

Basic Lacrosse was established to share the foundational principals and strategies to help you become a better lacrosse player, teammate, coach or fan of the game.

Dave Gardner, picked up his first stick in 1981 and after playing many other sports in high school focused and played at D3 SUNY Cortland where he was a member of the team all four years.

He has coached both boys (modified) and girls (JV/Varsity) lacrosse for over 15 years and has published a lacrosse book called "The Commandments of Lacrosse" which you can find at (concealed information) or (concealed information)

You can also find Dave/Basic Lacrosse online at (concealed information)

I started substitute teaching in 1997, taught in the Peace Corps from 1998-2000, then came back, finished my masters in Teaching in 2002 and subbed again before being hired full time in 2003 as a HS Science teacher. I coached my first season of lacrosse in 1992 for the modified boys team (as a Junior in HS) then started coaching again in 2003.

I have been a full time HS Science teacher since 2003 and have been coaching lacrosse most of those years as well at both the boys (modified assistant) and girls (JV head coach/Varsity assistant) levels for 15 years.

About the lesson

I have worked with players of all ages and genders from my daughters youth leages (3rd-6th grade) as well as boys Modified (7/8th grade) and girls JV/Varsity (9-12th grade)

Find someone passionate about sharing their knowledge of the topic and will also provide things you can also do on your own to help grow your skillset.
