About Charlene

Let me introduce myself. I was depressed at age eleven. I never thought I could ever feel happy or lovable. I spent my whole life trying to escape the pain. My life was a mess until I bottomed out and needed to do someting about it because my life depended on it. And now, as a recovered sex and love addict, I am the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been.

I was a suicidal mess, unable to leave emotionally unavailable and toxic relationships. With the help of my mentors, therapists, support groups, and spirituality, I was able to wake up and get to the other side. My healing involved facing my childhood trauma, forgiving, accepting, releasing, and learning how to love and take care of myself for the first time. If I can do it, anyone can. Truly. But we can't do it alone.

I'm not saying I'm perfect and life is perfect. The healing is infinite and never ends. But I've been there, I've lived many lives, I have many stories, and it's a miracle I'm even alive. My intention moving forward is simply to help others with my experience and pass on what has worked for me, with hopes that it could work for you.

Everything I've experienced, all the pain and suffering I've overcome, all the work I've done, doesn't have value until I pass it onto others. All I want to do is help.

About the lesson

Basics:
-Speaking the shame out loud to get it outside of your body
-Forgiveness for others and self
-Rewriting stories and rewiring programming
-Healing childhood wounds and trauma
-Shifting perspective. Gratitude.
-Tools for stress, anxiety, and obsession
-Self-love and self-kindness tools
-Weekly homework, daily practices

Healthy relationships:
-Support for break-ups/withdrawal from addiction
-Release of relationships that no longer serve you
-Healthy dating plans
-Learning how to love and take care of Self
-Detaching with love
-Communication techniques for couples
-Intimacy practices

This work is not easy. But it's absolutely worth it. You've got to want it. You can't half-ass it. I can't make you want this, I can't make you do the work. But if you really want it, you can have it. It works if you work it. You must stick with it. The miracles show up when you stick with it no matter what.

In 2018 I was invited to speak in front of over 400 sex therapists at the ITTAP Symposium (International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Specialists). It was a full circle moment for me, because it was in Phoenix, where I went to college, and I was very unwell and in my addiciton. To be there 15 years later sharing my story and recovery was incredibly healing.
