Okay - that was the AI version. This is my version. I taught 6th grade Language Arts in Sweetwater for 15 years. Then I left to teach Developmental Reading and Writing at Texas State Technical College for students who were not considered “college ready” due to test scores. I retired in 2019 at the age of 53 to take care of my dad. Sadly, he passed not long after. I’m bored and ready to do something fun again — and yes, I love teaching reading and writing and grammar. Lots of people think that’s weird. But it is just who I am.
After students at TSTC took a Test Refresher short class that I developed, I had phenomenal pass rates— 87% increased their scores enough on the reading test to pass; 93% on the writing. I might be a couple points off on the reading percentage but I’m in the backyard watering the flowers I just planted and don’t have the info in front of me. I would love a chance to help students again. I’m pretty laid back, but I am darn good at what I do. If for some reason I do not feel like I can help the student, I will let them know and see if I can find some resources that will point you in the right direction.
