About Cameron
I am a former Marine and current boxing coach operating under UFC Reno. I served with the Marine Corps for 3 1/2 years, coached for around 2 years on the books, excluding coaching I did in the military, and have been boxing since I was 14. I have a fairly broad knowledge base in physical conditioning and boxing. I've worked with men, women, and children, tailoring each lesson to the individual, even in large classroom settings. I feel that the most important thing next to achieving your goal, is to build on this community, and to strengthen the individual's character, body, and mind.
The facility provides a wide range of machines, bags, space, and knowledge. Personal courses will allow you to develop individual skill sets tailored to what your goal is, whether it be fitness, self defense, competition, or more. If boxing is not your speed, we have a wide array of coaches dedicated to other disciplines including kickboxing, mma, and Muay Thai, all of which are competitor capable.
My favorite aspect to this field of work, is watching the client or fighter grow. I live for watching the lightbulb click when they understand a new strike, as well as watching them smile after a session of hard grinding. The development the individual makes, however big or small, drives me to do the most I can.
I started out coaching during my time in the Marine Corps. I felt that it was important for every war fighter I worked alongside with to have the opportunity to know what I know, in hopes that they would better themselves, and pass on that knowledge.
I have been boxing since I was 14 years old. My level of training progressed during my time in the Marine Corps, during which I trained many of my Marines in the art of boxing. Upon my release from duty, I pursued further education and training at Downtown Boxing Club in Vallejo, CA. There, I trained for two years to further progress my skill set as a coach, and a boxer. Now, with the ever changing curriculum provided at UFC Reno, I continue to expand my skills so that I may share this passion with new people, and sharpen the blades of existing fighters.

I like to work with the individual closely, speaking with them to learn what they want, and continuing that teamwork to help them reach that goal. For example, I would watch a new boxer work a punching bag, work mitts with them afterward, disclose to them my plan to better them, and make those adjustments to a basic training plan until we are both comfortable enough to step up the intensity. That method is also brought to the table for physical conditioning, whether it be building muscle, strengthening cardio, or toning up.
I have worked with adults, children, and youth. I find that everyone, no matter what age or physical limitation, has the making to become better.
Always listen to what your instructor has to say, but understand that they need to listen to you as well. It is a team effort, and both parties, not just the student, should be working hard.
A recent event regarding this work I am very proud of calls me back to working with a mother's child when my own coach could not make it to the gym. I ran Junior through stretches and dynamic movements, then put on the mitts to work his punching. Watching him get more excited with each punch he threw, and continued to build on it. I went through more advanced combinations, higher intensity, and let him fight his way through the round. I was astonished to see that he wanted to keep going, and I was more than happy to oblige.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
In all honesty, the questions come as you train. The first and foremost thing you should ask yourself is “what do I want to achieve?” Because I can assure you, I can get you there.
