I typically start by trying to understand where my students stand in terms of comprehension. After that I like to show them how the problem they are confused with is completed and allow them do it themselves with an example problem. I find this to be the best way to gauge where they are. If they are having a fundamental misunderstanding I like to go back to basics and explain from scratch. Understanding where my student is at fundamentally is key to me. My lessons are for anyone in high-school or lower
