About Alison
My name is Alison Hoffmann and I have been tutoring math since 1990. I really enjoy tutoring. The advantage to one-on-one tutoring is the student can go at their pace of learning. I explain skills and concepts so the student understands the math material. If there is not an understanding of a certain skill I have an opportunity to explain in another way. Repetition and understanding is a good way to become proficient in the area of math. I do what it takes for a student to learn.
I have a teaching certificate and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math. I have tutored over 30 years and have taught in the classroom for six years.

My process is to determine the student's present level of skills and understanding. First, I simply talk to a student to find out their interests, hobbies and how they feel about their own learning. Second, I tell the student I am a coach/cheerleader who will take the time to help him/her to be successful at learning. Third, I am very patient and will explain skills in various ways until the student is successful.

Perfect! The response was quick the person who reach out to me appeared eager to assist my child with his math. She asked very helpful questions to determine what was needed to help him. She answered my questions and she was able to meet with us the next day. My child was anxious, but when he met her and she worked with him on his math he was relieved. He said he like that she was able to help him with his math until he understood it. I was very happy he liked working with her. We decided to make another appointment so she can continue to tutor him with his math. I would definitely recommend her. I am pleased!!!
