About Leonard
I am a systems engineer and computer scientist with 19 years experience (and master's degrees in both) before entering the education field. I have 15 years of experience as a Math and Special Ed math teacher. I also teach developmental math at the college level and a course on how to teach math in a graduate special ed program.

Before the first meeting I generally ask to see recent graded work from their current math class. This allows me to obtain a feel for what they are studying and what their current competency level is. Additionally, I ask what textbook or curriculum their school uses. This way I can ensure that the first meeting is truly productive and that I can prepare for that individual student. No two students have the same needs, and I want to be able to meet individual needs from the beginning.
