About Bailey

Hi! My name is Bailey and I am a rising senior at Harvard. Tutoring is as much connecting with the student as it is teaching the student. Throughout my years of tutoring, I've realized how crucial it is for the tutor and the tutee to be on the same page to work towards the end goal. Ultimately, learning should be fun and this is something I will stand by and strive for. It is part of human nature to be curious and want to learn but somewhere down the line, society has turned learning into something tedious and boring! I have always tried to tutor with that perspective in mind. If the student is not learning correctly, more than not it is the fault of the tutor and it is on us to change that!

My tutoring style usually includes understanding the students learning style, adjusting the lesson to how the student will learn best, and then feeding the information in a manner with rewards that come with learning. This way there is something to look forward to when learning is accomplished.

I have been tutoring for about 8 years now as a freelance tutor. I specialize in Math subjects ranging from elementary to test prep to competition math. I also started a Mathcounts club in my middle school to teach kids how to approach competition math questions like the ones that appear on Math Olympiads, AMC, and Mathcounts.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading, basketball and powerlifting. I am always a phone call away and respond fast to any questions, concerns, comments, or scheduling! Looking forward to connecting with you guys!

I started in my family by tutoring my younger cousins and then I started a math olympiad club at my school. One of the most satisfying moments is when a student gets that "A-ha" moment and that is the reason I still teach.

I was a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Financial Statistics and Linera Algebra at Harvard University.

About the lesson

I like to start from the beginning which is why does a concept work and why should it make sense. The typical route of rote memorization is much harder to learn in my opinion and once a concept is understood the memorization is much easier.

All kinds of students at every age range and experience level.

Make choices based on fit and experience. Having a good connection with your tutor is just as important as how qualified he/she is.
