About Grace
I am a senior at Green Hope High School, and I excel in math. Currently, I am taking AP Statistics, and I have been taking math classes 2+ years beyond my grade level since 6th grade. While I love to tutor all students, I would prefer to work with Elementary and Middle School students. In my past volunteer tutoring, I have developed a way of teaching that works for many students. Over the years, I've realized that the way math concepts are taught in school do not line up with the way I learn. Due to this, I have found alternate ways to make sense of math. Most recently, I helped a fellow classmate by re-explaining a concept, and they ended up acing the test! I look forward to helping your student!
I love helping students understand math. My favorite part is when a student's eyes light up when they understand a concept that they hadn't before!
I love math, but sometimes, I have to translate the way my teacher taught a concept into a different way that makes sense for me. Other students began asking me to help them in class, which made me want to help more students learn math in a way that is best for them.
I have been a volunteer tutor for 4 years, and I constantly help classmates while in class.

First, I want to make sure that the student is comfortable. I make sure to introduce myself and ask the student to tell me something about themselves. Next, I ask the student to show me the concept that they are working on and how their teacher explained it. Typically, I choose to explain the concept in an alternate way, which I find that students understand more easily. When possible, I try to connect the math to real-life scenarios, especially the student's interests.
