About Kiara
With over a decade of experience as a private tutor, I specialize in Mathematics, as well as healthcare courses for aspiring healthcare majors. Math has always been a strength and I enjoy watching students understand the concepts from my examples and connections. Studying at Southern Illinois University as an accountant major I realized I loved helping people on a more holistic level and therefore changed my major with a focus in healthcare. I then graduated from Ambria College of Nursing and currently work as a Psychiatric Nurse. I have a passion for those that learn and think differently. I worked with children my entire life, especially those with special needs and instead of disability I say different ability or unique learning capability. I believe in catering to a child's strength while acknowledging the weaknesses. Every child is unique and as a result what works for one may not work for the other and that's okay. I'm very empathetic and understand that some children have been labeled as "giving instructors a hard time", when in reality that child is simply having a hard time.
In order to help your child meet/exceed their benchmarks I thoroughly assess their learning style using a tool I have utilized for 5 years. Once established, I provide a standardized test to analyze where they are academically and how they compare to their peers according to their grade level and state guidelines. Moving forward our lesson plan and targeted areas depends on that students' needs.
I started tutoring because my siblings and family members struggled with class work for years. As a graduating Valedictorian I felt compelled to help them. Soon after I began helping others.

She’s big on patience. I didn’t have much patience for my daughter, and that was the problem. My daughter wasn’t confident because I screamed at her because she didn’t seem to get it; however she was just intimidated.

Every situation is unique. Therefore pricing depends on the needs and longevity of the lessons. Tutoring is available 2-3 days a week and typically 1-2 hours a session, as to not overwhelm the student. The goal is to help the student retain as much information as possible. Too much information in one session can have unwanted results.
