About Hank

Hello, my name is Hank Helmers!

I am a student at Western Kentucky University, and I would love to help improve your relationship with math! I was fortunate enough in my early education to find someone who could make me see all these numbers and symbols differently, and I would be delighted to do that for you too.

It is very easy to look at a math problem and feel completely lost, and I get it. With me, I will take you through step by step, breaking down the problem so you can eventually do them entirely on your own. Whether it's an exam coming up or a whole course that you feel lost on, it's never too late to ask for help, and I'd be delighted to take you on that journey.

I started teaching by helping my friends with the classes they were struggling with!

I have over 4 years of peer tutoring experience.

For the classes that I tutor, I have passed with an A at the college and high school level, in addition to tutoring students within them previously. I have also worked in classrooms under teachers at the middle and high school levels, helping students with lesson work and teaching small groups. Additionally, I just really enjoy math and love trying to bring that to others, as well.

About the lesson

In the beginning, we will discuss a little about the class that you are in and what your goals are for our tutoring sessions. We can then work through any topics or homeworks that you are struggling with. We will then build up from there.

With that said, I want to see my students succeed, so if you would prefer a different method of tutoring after our first session, I am more than happy to accommodate and adjust to fit what works best for you, as the student!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students need to think about what areas and topics they are struggling with and be able to provide examples of such problems through homework assignments or past exams, for example. Additionally, it wouldn’t hurt to understand what your goals are with getting this tutoring. Do you want to pass a required class? Or do you want to ace your next exam, etc.?
