About Donna
I love math and I love helping students. I am new to this area from NJ. In NJ, I was a high school math teacher and private tutor as well as an adjunct math professor at a local unversity.
My most favorite work it helping students succeed in mathematics. I always get to know my tutors and deeply care for them. I constantly look out for their best interests. I believe in teamwork - parent, tutor, myself, and school/teacher. I will contact a school or teacher if I feel it is in my tutors best interests.
I have tutored students from 4th grade - college as well as helped high school students will SAT and Accuplacer exam prep.
I would love to help students in this area.
I really enjoy helping a student who is lost or confused and watch them become stronger and stronger is math which results in higher confidence in themselves in mathematics as well as improved grades.
I was a high school math teacher for 14 years, a math tutor for 14 years, and an adjunct math professor for 8 years.

When I have a new tutor. I briefly ask their parent/parents and my new tutor what their concerns are with math and ask how I can help them the most.
With my tutor, either we work on something that they brought with them or I will make an assessment to see what they know well and where they need my assistance. It doesn't take me long to assess my new tutors math skills and areas of need.
I then talk to the parent/parents and my tutor again at the end of first tutoring session with my findings and ideas of assistance. As a group, we will divise a plan of action.
I have worked with students that have a wide range of math skills. I want to help students feel more comfortable with math and realize that they can do it!
