About Garrett
I am an independent math, english and grammar tutor. I have years of experiencing helping high school students with algebra 1 and 2, geometry, functions, fractions, you name it. I also have experience with the updated SAT from CollegeBoard.
My work stands out because I can see where students need help and alter my lesson plan accordingly.
My work experience includes working with the Yleana Leadership Foundation in summer of 2016.
I have also led and taught classes at several school in the Franklin K Lane campus in Cypress Hill, Brooklyn. Not only did I prep them with homemade, "Frankenstein" SAT exams, but graded and monitored their progress through the school year, offering specific aid where they needed help.
I began tutoring throughout my high school years for community service. In Spring 2017, I began teaching SAT prep for the Math, Reading and Writing sections at Franklin K Lane Campus in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. Shortly after, students who had heard of me contacted me for private tutoring.

First we do an assessment to see what the student knows/doesn't know. (Or you can specifically tell me what topic you need help with.) The assessment may be a worksheet, or a series of questions about the topic that gauges their knowledge of the subject.
After the assessment we move forward with lessons for the topic. I will then help my student build strategies that focus on what they can do rather than staring blankly at their paper.
I have worked with high school freshman, sophomores and seniors.
While working at Franklin K Lane, I remember hearing that one of my SAT prep students had increased their super scores by 250 points on the actual exam over the course of the semester. He said it was thanks to the dozens of worksheets I put him through. :)
