About Zachary

I have nearly 6 years experience working with adults, teens, and children of all ages. I believe that my job isn't to teach but to help the student build skills they already have so that they don't need me any more. That's right, my goal is to tutor myself out of a job!

I have a bachelor's in chemistry and a master's in materials science engineering.

I love watching the learning happen. Working with students of all skill levels, you eventually see that a-ha moment. The student realizes they can do something that seemed impossible before. That is one of the best feelings!

I love math and science. I am very passionate about them and in providing outreach to anyone that wants to learn.

I walked by my college's tutoring center and saw a help wanted sign. I had always wanted to tutor, so I went in and signed up! I loved it right a way and have been tutoring ever since. Over the COVID-19 shutdown, I volunteered on an online platform to teach physics and chemistry to high school students. It was a great experience, and my first real teaching experience.

I have 5 years of experience tutoring students from age 7 to late over 60! I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's degree in materials science engineering.

About the lesson

I like to start by focusing on the student's strengths in learning and in a particular subject. By focusing on strengths rather than weaknesses, we start from a point of confidence and it gives the student an "I can do this" attitude. We start working in some of the areas the student feels strong in, and begin expanding to areas where they are less confident.

Students from age 7 to 65, 1st grade to college-level! I mainly work with students in math, chemistry, and physics, but I have also tutored biology, anatomy and physiology, and writing.

Make sure you hire based on the tutor/teacher's ability to work with you not their overall subject knowledge. It's not hard to find someone that is good at math, science, or the subject you need help in. It is a challenge to find a tutor/teacher that knows how to communicate with a student effectively.

I got engaged in late 2019, and we had a party with a few of hour friends. It was great because we around friends and family and celebrating a very happy time in our lives.
