About Katy
I am a Resource Specialist Program Teacher with a background in teaching english and math to elementary and middle school students. I have been working in education for 9 years. The first 4 years as a special education para- educator and the last 5 years as a resource teacher. I develop and implement IEPs as well as co-teach 6-8th grade ELA and Math.
My main goal in tutoring is to help students become independent learners, learn to advocate for themselves, and grasp the information that they are missing while in the classroom.
I am able to scaffold and differentiate instruction to meet students where they are at and offer a warm approach.
I worked as a Nanny/Babysitter for 10 years and then decided to do something completely different (desk job) and absolutly hated it! A friend of mine was a Special Education teacher and suggested I apply to be a para-educator. I fell in love with working in the public school system supporting students with IEPs. I decided to pursue my credential in 2020.
