About Rebecca

I'm trained in several Orton-Gillingham programs and have over 1000 hours teaching using this methodology. I've been an educator for students with Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, and who struggle with keeping up with literacy, mathematics and executive functions. As part of my approach, I also help parents to become informed so they know the right questions to ask so they get the information they need to advocate for their child. As an educator for 20 years I have worked in the classroom, resource room, Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, CT and as the Coordinator for Learning Services for what is now called SASCO River.

I love seeing the students' finally get something that they had been struggling with. It just makes everything worth it knowing that I am making a difference for my students and their families.

I started out as a student teacher in several different types of classrooms and when I finished my teaching program I immediately continued in to grad school where I specialized in literacy. It's been the best thing for me as I have helped so many students to learn to read including my own kids.

About the lesson

First, I do a phone intake either with the student directly or with the parents to get a sense of what is going on and what challenges I would need to address. If it seems like a good match with my skill set, then we schedule a first meeting and do some diagnostic ms to get a baseline particularly for literacy and mathematics. I meet with my students weekly either in person or over zoom and provide parents with feedback based on response to interventions provided.

Students with Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, executive functions difficulties, typical learners who are struggling in the classroom, and even students who need extensions to lessons so they can dig a little deeper. And though I usually start with elementary age students they often stay with me and so I have worked with a wide range of students from Elementary school through college.
