About Dorothy

Dorothy Tanner is the winner of the 2018 City and County Mayor's Award for Excellence in Arts and Culture in the Innovation Category. Her art has been exhibited at the McNichols Civic Center Building, Museum of Outdoor Arts, Denver International Airport, and Lakewood Cultural Center.

Dorothy Tanner's artistic partner, Marc Billard teaches the sculpture class, and Dorothy Tanner checks on the students' progress.

Our art school in Denver, the Lumonics School of Light Art, offers a class to teach people how to create light art in an intimate studio setting, 4 students per class. Importantly, you do not need a be an artist to take this course, but will feel more artistic and confident of your artistic abilities when the class concludes.

Most of the attendees are either students or professionals in fields without a direct relationship to the arts. They are quite enthusiastic about their projects, and the enthusiasm grows week-to-week as their projects become realized.

You are guided to create your own one-of-a-kind light sculpture which you will take home after the fourth and final class.

My experience with the Lumonics School of Light Art was very good. The instructors and staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the class size was small enough for each student to receive individual attention, The four sessions were structured logically to make sure that each student learned the techniques and skills required to successfully complete the artwork, while exploring an entirely new medium.
