When working with a new student, I like to either talk to them or their parent about what the goals are to get out of the session. I also like to evaluate them on drills and start to plan the sessions on how to complete their goal, whether it be to make Varsity, to get exercise in, or to play at the collegiate level.
Advise I will give is you want to connect with the person, whether it be me, or someone else, you want to make sure you have that connection so that you are passionate and excited to go to sessions.
