About Andrew

For the past twelve years I have been passionate about music and performing on the trumpet. Since 2008 I have studied with musicians from all over the world and can pass on that knowledge. I recieved my Bachelor Degree in Music Performacne with an emphasis on trumpet from California State University Fullerton in the year 2017, and I have recieved my Masters in Music Performance with an emphasis on trumpet from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee in the year 2020. I have studied with musicians from the San Diego Symphony, Pacific Symphony, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and have performed in master classes with muscians from the LA Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. I have performed with the Temecula Valley Symphony, the Southland Valley Symphony, Silk Road, Randy Jackson, John Rzeznick, Chris Broderick, Chas West,a nd Nancy Wilson. I have performed in many musicals such as The Wiz, The Music Man, Beatuy and the Beast, and Chorus Line. I have the knowledge and tools to help students of all ages to learn, practice and enjoy music of all kinds.

I started teaching by looking how far I have come as a musician and recognizing how I couldn't have gotten as far without my instructors who were genuine in my success as a musician. From 2013 and on I have advertised thorugh gigs and colleagues that I teach privately and have been teaching since.

I have been studying trumept since 2008. I have studied with Ray Nowak of the San Diego Symphony, Berry Perkins of the Pacific Symphony, David Pittel who works at Disneyland and is a freelance musician in Orange County, and Joseph Foley of the Rhode Island Philharmonic. I have a Bachelors from California State University Fullerton and a Master's Degree from the Boston Conservatory at Berrklee in Music Performance with an emphasis on trumpet.

About the lesson

For the first lesson I assess their starting level of playing the instrument and based on how they sound I will then assign weekly exercises, studies, and music to learn. The exercises will be about the fundamentals of plaing the horn. By learning the exercises, students will be anble to learn and play the music more easily. After a week of practicing I will ask them to demostrate that they have learned the previous weeks lesson. If they perform it with ease and I can see that they have practiced we will move on to the next lesson. If the student had some trouble or has not practiced I will do a quick review of the lesson and try to introduce a new topic.

Have taught students from different ages and levels of playing. I have taught beginners of all ages to college students who are advanced players. I have also lead sectionals for band camps for middle and high school trumpet sections.

My advice is to always try to find someone that can create nuturing environment to bolster and encourage the shared love of music between student and teacher.

I am very fond of attending concerts with full orchestras that play some of the richest music that have been composed. During my two years of my Masters program at the Boston Conservatory I attended a performance of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and they performed a sympnony calld Sinfonietta by Leos Janacek. It was the first time I heard my isntructor Joseph Foley perform and the begining of the piece opens with a radiant fanfare with nine trumpets and I sat there in awe of how passionate and brilliant the piece was. It has become one of my favortie pieces of music ever compsoed.

Details

I have three different prices based on the length of lessons. For thirty minutes: 50$, for forty-five minutes: 55$, for a full hour 60$. those are the starting prices but they are negotiable.
