About Miguel

I studied violin and musicology in the US and Spain and teach students of all ages and levels. Whether you're just starting or you are preparing for college auditions, I can help you!

I love the process of teaching the students how to think for themselves and giving them tools to solve their technical problems and be able to express their feelings.

I started preparing students to take conservatory auditions while in college and then had a full studio in Spain before moving to the US. When I was doing my masters I became a teacher in the Missouri String Project, working with children aged 7-9.

I have a bachelor's in violin performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Granada, Spain, a bachelor's in musicology from the University of Granada and a master's degree from the University of Missouri.

About the lesson

First, I ask what their goals with music are, not everybody wants the same! And then design a plan to get us there. Sometimes some technical work is needed, maybe a little music theory will help, or perhaps we can start right away with pieces!

I have worked with students of all ages and levels, from 3 year-olds who had never seen a violin to college students working on orchestra auditions. I also teach a large number of adult students, who require a different approach, and I enjoy that very much.

I would recommend choosing someone with a good education and experience that can really work with you.

My last online student recital. They all worked hard and received the support of their peers. Even I played a little piece for them!

Miguel was an excellent teacher. As a university student, I had a lot of difficult repertoire that fortunately Miguel had already played when he was doing his undergrad. Miguel is very methodical and focuses heavily on technique to ensure a players success. I felt that he was sometimes better than my violin professor !

Miguel is an AMAZING Violinist and teacher.I had the privilege of studying with him when he was in Texas. His teaching methods are very easy to understand and improve with and his knowledge of the Great Virtuosos and ability to mimick them make him a good fit for any player. I highly recommend taking lessons with Miguel. Even though he lives in Europe I go to him first always when I need help with my playing. THE BEST!
