About Carolyn

Bay Ohm Yoga is Bayonne's newest, Yoga Studio. Our goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free yoga space filled with peace, love, and compassion to practice yoga, build a community, and get back to feeling good in your body, mind, and heart.

We are a beginner-friendly studio. We work with individuals on all levels of practice. We are passionate about supporting students in finding their own yoga practice both on and off the mat.

There is nothing I do not enjoy about the work I do. I enjoy being of service and supporting people when they are seeking to feel good about themselves.

Having been diagnosed with three autoimmune diseases, Hypo-Thyroid & Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjogren’s, her health was going into a fast decline for about a year before being diagnosed.
Suffering from things like swollen & stiff joints, confusion, debilitating bouts of exhaustion, sleepless and painful nights, she needed to find a way to help herself. Having a strong preference to holistic and natural healing, she gave herself the gift of attending a gentle yoga class.
After a few months of practice and feeling the incredible changes happening to her body, she decided she needed to be trained in Yoga & Meditation so that she could share this practice with anyone who was willing to try.
She completed her RYT 200 HR certification intensive studies at Sivananda Yoga Farm (spending 30 days in seclusion at the Ashram from everyday life) living in a tent under the California stars, training in Sacramento, CA. She is also a certified Yin Yoga Instructor, to which she attributes to her current level of mobility and flexibility.

She is passionate about bringing the community together through wellness & supporting those who want to begin or continue their journey of self-knowledge and self-love with a little tough love and discipline. She pushes her students to look within to find answers to their questions.

About the lesson

Upon beginning a class, I ask about a student's yoga practice (existing or not) and physical health. If it's a one on one session, I will create a plan for the students based on what they are looking to do and what would be suited for them.

I have worked with many students across all types of issues, levels of practice. My primary focus of those who are battling and living with conditions that limit their mobility and flexibility. I am also very passionate about teaching beginners yoga as I believe how one is introduced to the practice of yoga is extremely important.

I would say before hiring a teacher, read their bio well, ask many questions, be honest about what you are looking for, and trust your gut feeling!

I created a breathing technique class since the pandemic started because I felt it was very important to only monitor our breathing but to increase our breathing capacity for calm, focus, and concentration.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about what they want to accomplish. They should think about what they are looking to learn, why, and be honest about what has brought them to that place in life. Students should feel free, to be honest.
