About Ann

Before yoga and I met, I thought pain management was just a part of my sport. Now I realize strong flexible muscles mean more power, better performance, and less risk of injury! I love sharing yoga with others because I've seen the difference it has made in my life.

Seeing the joy in others when they begin to see the difference yoga is making in their health and wellness.

n 2007, by chance (maybe it was destiny) a very dear friend, Michael, took me rock climbing. It was something I'd always wanted to try but never had a chance. So he offered to teach me. We hiked to a sport climbing area in Central Arizona called the "Mine". I had a small pack with water and a little food (**sigh** oh those days of light packs are so far away...). Michael led the routes. I top roped. I felt fear and joy. I fell in love with the blue sky, the feel of rock under my hands and the joy of admiring long beautiful vistas from high places. I was hooked!

However, constant training and climbing took its toll. There were a growing number of days of aches and pains. My shoulders seemed to be perpetually hunched. I had trouble with my neck, lower back, fingers. Then, on a rest day (and honestly on a bit on a whim), I decided to go to a yoga class. What a wake up call!

Yoga became a part of my regular training program. It has changed my life, my body, my fitness and my climbing. So much so that I decided I wanted to share it with others and became an instructor.

About the lesson

I seek to understand the student's fitness and health goals. I also ask a lot of questions about current/past injuries. Then together we develop a plan that suits their needs.

I've worked with students of all ages and skills. I've coached girl gymnasts, climbers, runners/hikers, bicyclists, and athletes of all types. I've also coached those who less active and simply want a yoga practice that helps them relax and unwind. I most frequently teach yin/restorative yoga which is a calm and slow-moving practice where yoga poses are held for 1-5 minutes. Yin is great for everyone of all skills because it focuses on connective tissue aids in improving joint mobility and muscle flexibilty.

Come with an open and positive attitude and know that with time all things are possible.

Teaching every Sunday at my climbing gym. There's always a huge crowd of men, women and kids and afterwards most stay afterward to climb. It's so much fun!
