About Sandra

I have taught for over 8 years. My exprience is varied! Corporate yoga settings, to trauma recovery, prenatal, gentle flows and restorative.

I specialize in Yoga for Women's Health - fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause - based in a mental health, mind-body approach.

My passion is empowering women through a yoga practice and whole-life support.

I began my yoga journey in 2001 as a teenager after reading that yoga was helpful for stress. I quickly became enamored with how my yoga practice allowed me to connect with and love my body. In 2005 I completed my BA in Art Therapy. In 2007 completed a Yoga Anatomy course at Lourdes Wellness Institute in New Jersey, followed by my Yoga Teaching Certification from the YogaLife Institute in Pennsylvania and additional courses in Prenatal Yoga, Ashtanga and Ayurveda from Dhyana Yoga in Philadelphia. While teaching she I trained as a Holistic Health Coach with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NY and certified as a Birth Doula with Birth Arts International. I completed a Yoga for Trauma training through the Center for Yoga and Trauma Recovery in 2017.

In 2012 I started Whole Beginnings and have been working with mothers as a Doula and Fertility, Pregnancy & New Mama Wellness Coach and Yoga Instructor. I gave birth to my daughter Fiona in 2014 and twins Elliott and Junia in February of 2016.

My last year of high school 15 years ago I started practicing yoga for stress. My teachers threw me into teaching (despite my nerves) 4 or 5 years later and I've never looked back!

About the lesson

Students fill out my brief intake form and we spend some time talking in our first session about specific needs.

My specialty is women's health - so women from all ages and backgrounds!

I don't know many teachers that teach in my area. I would look for someone knowledgeable about the endocrine system, the mental health side of both yoga and women's health, and a history of working with women!

I attended a training by the Emily Program (an eating disorder treatment facility) on their massive yoga program and using body respectful language while teaching. It was amazing!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should determine what type of support they're looking for and look for a teacher with that background and lots of experience. There are a lot of varities of a yoga practice and what one teacher considers gentle might not be what another does!

Group classes are priced by the studio (Healing Elements in St. Paul) at $18 for a drop in.

Private Sessions in studio are $85 for 60 minutes or 4 for $300 in studio or $125 for on site.
