About Bethany
Teaching and practicing yoga helps me to rely on and love my body, to amplify my own voice and celebrate my experience as a plus-size, Black woman. Yoga has been the catalyst for liberation as I struggled to fully accept myself, find my voice, my identity and my self-worth.
My love and gratitude for yoga and a deeper connection to my whole self unfold the more I practice and am able to let go of the fat-shaming ideals of perfection. It's been a beautiful, body-love journey.
As a teacher, it is an honor to create a safe space for you to wholly be who you are, with whatever you're experiencing in life. I'll guide you through joyful movement and full, deep breaths. You'll experience self-discovery, delight and awe as we explore and practice variations of postures that feel good in your body.
It's lovely to witness the transformation of confusion, frustration and fear as it builds confidence as you practice patience and kindness, slowly letting go of perfection and performance. With each breath, there is shift of energy relaxing the density of thoughts and emotions, drawing you back to the present moment.
I hope you'll take the opportunity for you to get into your body to explore and discover what it needs and wants, whether it be ease, effort, rest, vigor or any combination of those. How wonderful that yoga allows us to show up just as we are and makes space for who we're becoming.
