About Vera

Personally, it took me years to open up to yoga - both as a physical practice and as philosophy so I have a lot of compassion for new students who are building body awareness, getting to know their being, perhaps feel intimidated in group settings or want to practice with friends only. I don't believe that there is only one way a posture can look like. Yoga is a journey, it's a slow and steady process. And if your hips aren't as open, we will work with what your body gives us instead of fixating on how a shape has to look.

I'm a certified RYT200 yoga teacher living and loving San Francisco. I completed my training at Yoga To The People, a donation-based studio in SF and Berkeley. I teach regularly at YTTP and give private lessons in my community.

I’ve always been fascinated with movement, especially as a dance form. The strong emphasis on combining movement, breath and self-observation found in Vinyasa Flow Yoga is something I am very passionate about and love sharing with others. I am a strong believer that yoga should be made accessible to everyone and am exploring opportunities to bring yoga to marginalized communities and amongst people with trauma. I hope we get to work together!

I enjoy teaching because I get to see the bliss on students' face when they have completed a class, that glow that makes them shine, smile and feel better.

I graduaded at the top of my program at YTTP in April 2017 and the program directors invited me to take an apprenticeship at the studio so I started teaching as soon as I graduated.

I am an RYT-certified teacher and continue to take credits and workshops both online and offline. Currently, I'm studying sequencing and diving deeper into Vinyasa Flow which is what I specialize in.

About the lesson

Either meeting in person or conducting a written (via email) survey to better understand their needs, motivation, current practice if any, and experience with mind body practices in the past, and what they are looking for. Inquiring about injuries and things they may have observed in their own body/anatomy i.e. tight hamstrings, internal shoulder rotation, etc.

All-level and all-age students. The studio I work at is donation-based so there are people with various levels of experience, different body types, and age groups.

You are your best teacher. No one has your anatomy, no one feels what you feel, no one has been through what you have been. When working with a teahcer, tune in, learn, be open but listen to your body because you are stuck with it forever.

I was told by a student that they appreciated my guidance in a packed class. It felt good and I can only strive to continue on this path.

My private lessons vary from $80-$120 depending on length of class and the work required before class, weekly volume, and resources I can provide before or after a class if needed (literature, online classes, recommendation on additional in-person classes, etc.)
