About Eric
I have been giving tutoring and exam training since 2015. I have taught students both individually and in small groups, and I have a lot of experience with exam students. As a BA English I have experience with using English and Dutch at a scientific level. I also gained experience in education by doing an internship at secondary schools and providing English lessons at primary school. For this I have gained experience with developing teaching materials, teaching for large groups and guiding pupils on a pedagogical basis.

In my education I am very involved in linguistics and language development. Because of this I have knowledge of recent insights into science. I try to shape my lessons through a scientific approach. For example, I focus on authentic communication and interaction with my English lessons. I am also very concerned with modeling and worked out examples: I support pupils by first showing how I personally approach an assignment or problem to make it less stressful for the student. I start with students with acquaintance and ask a number of orientating questions about the lessons. For example, I discuss problem areas, the teaching method and goals / expectations. During the lessons, I try to make pupils think aloud, and I encourage students to argue with me. I like it when students enter into the discussion, and of course I try to build up a nice chat every now and then. :) I have the most experience with teaching high school students, but I am also able to help students with Dutch and English, especially with academic writing.
