About Finn

My lessons focus on showing the true power of data in understanding the world around us. I teach students how to read and interpret data with confidence, turning numbers into meaningful stories. Together, we master graphing techniques, from simple bar charts to more complex visualizations that reveal patterns hidden in the details. We dive into the essentials of statistical analysis, learning how to measure, compare, and test ideas using clear and logical methods. I guide learners in spotting trends and relationships that can influence decisions, whether in academic research or everyday situations. Real-world datasets and case studies are at the heart of my teaching, making each lesson practical and engaging. I provide patient and structured support for those who may feel uneasy about numbers, helping them build skills step by step. For those aiming to strengthen their professional or academic work, I offer advanced techniques to ensure accuracy and clarity in data presentation. My goal is to equip every learner with the ability to navigate complex information and find clear answers. By the end of our sessions, you will see data not as a challenge but as a valuable tool for discovery and problem-solving. You’ll gain the skills to analyze research, make informed choices, and communicate your findings effectively. Above all, you’ll develop the confidence to handle numbers in any context and transform information into powerful insights.

I’m a Maths tutor with over 7 years of experience and a MSc in Computational Mathematics, passionate about making advanced concepts accessible to everyone. My teaching is especially tailored for non-STEM majors, where the goal isn’t just to compute but to understand, connect, and appreciate the beauty of mathematics. I believe math is not a fortress of symbols but a landscape of ideas, patterns, and relationships waiting to be explored.

Instead of drowning students in dense formulas, I focus on the *why* behind them. I use everyday analogies—a coffee cup’s curve, a music chord’s harmony, a city’s street grid—to bring abstract ideas to life. Historical context is another key tool in my lessons, revealing how theories evolved from human curiosity and practical needs. This approach makes even the most intimidating concepts feel natural and grounded.

Over the years, I’ve worked with liberal arts students, humanities scholars, and many who once carried a deep-seated “math phobia.” I’ve seen the transformation that happens when learners realize math isn’t an enemy—it’s a lens to see the world more clearly. My sessions invite curiosity, encourage open discussion, and build comfort with tackling challenging ideas.

Whether we’re exploring the elegance of a proof or the geometry of a cathedral, I want students to see the relevance and wonder in the subject. My mission is to replace fear with fascination, and hesitation with confidence. Together, we can uncover how mathematics quietly shapes the arts, the sciences, and everyday life. And by the end, I hope you’ll not just understand math better—but also feel its universal impact in ways you never expected.
