In my four years teaching piano, I have had the joy of working with over 150 students, each bringing their own aspirations, challenges, and personalities to the lesson. I am committed to creating lessons that are engaging, nurturing, and individualized to suit each student’s way of learning. Technical skills such as finger independence, rhythmic accuracy, and sight-reading are important pillars, but I balance these with a strong focus on expression and musicality. I encourage students to think about dynamics, tone, phrasing, and emotional storytelling in their playing, helping them move beyond notes into meaningful music-making. Theory and improvisation are integrated naturally, supporting both comprehension and creative exploration. I adapt my teaching to students’ musical interests, whether they gravitate toward classical sonatas, jazz standards, or contemporary popular songs. A particularly rewarding experience was helping a student overcome their fear of performing, resulting in a joyful and confident recital debut that marked a turning point in their musical confidence. I emphasize the value of consistent, thoughtful practice and goal-setting to maintain steady progress. My philosophy is rooted in nurturing each student’s curiosity, enthusiasm, and lifelong love for music.

About the lesson

Piano has been a lifelong passion of mine, and teaching it has become one of the most fulfilling ways I can share that joy with others. I approach every lesson with the goal of helping students feel empowered and excited about their progress. I emphasize patience and flexibility, especially because I know every student comes in with different experiences, learning preferences, and goals.

Some want to master classical technique, others want to explore pop songs or write their own music. I adjust to meet them where they are, crafting each lesson to blend their interests with core musical concepts like rhythm, note reading, phrasing, and dynamics. I lead with compassion, especially when students feel stuck or discouraged. Rather than rushing through a difficult section, I help them slow down, break it into manageable steps, and celebrate the small wins along the way. I also make a point to explain the reasoning behind everything we do in lessons—whether it’s a warm-up exercise or a new piece—so students feel informed and in control of their learning.

I’ve worked with beginners, intermediate players, and even students preparing for conservatory auditions. One of my most memorable students was a quiet high schooler who began lessons feeling unsure and withdrawn. Over the months, she grew more confident, not just in her playing but in herself, eventually performing a self-arranged medley at her school concert. That kind of transformation is what drives me as a teacher. For me, piano isn’t just a skill to develop—it’s a tool for self-expression, resilience, and connection.
