About Johnny
I'm a disciplined and reliable person, and I bring that to how I teach — you can count on me to turn up organised and on time, every session. Currently a final year TCD Geography student where I play senior rugby for the college and won a Leinster Schools Senior Cup in secondary school, which is where a lot of that discipline and ability to perform under pressure comes from. At the same time, I'm easygoing and easy to get along with, so lessons stay relaxed rather than stiff.
In 2021, I completed the David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge, raising over €3,000 for the Peter McVerry Trust — another reminder that I don't shy away from hard work. Alongside my degree, I've worked as a GIS Analyst and in transport consulting with an international engineering firm, and I'm an analyst with Trinity's Student Managed Fund. But what matters most to me as a tutor is that students actually leave each session understanding the material and feeling more confident — not just having covered content for the sake of it.

I teach Geography to Junior and Leaving Cert students, in one-hour sessions (longer if needed closer to exams etc). Lessons can be one-to-one or in small groups, depending on what suits.
I combine two perspectives: as a Geography student at Trinity College Dublin, I bring an advanced understanding of the subject; but having sat the Leaving Cert myself in 2023 and gotten a H1, I also know the course from a student's eyes. Some of the LC Geography course is genuinely straightforward, so I know exactly where to focus — spending less time on the easy wins and more on the areas that actually trip students up.
I also put real emphasis on study advice and exam technique, which I think is often overlooked. That includes practical help with the Geographical Investigation, where students often lose marks through poor structure rather than lack of knowledge.
