About Eleanor

I am a third-year biomedical sciences student with extensive research experience gained during my placement year in microbiology and materials science laboratories. I have a strong passion for science and education, which is reflected in my previous tutoring experience helping GCSE and A-Level students improve their understanding and exam performance. Currently, I work as an academic support worker within a university setting, providing one-to-one guidance and study skills support to fellow students. Outside of academia, I am deeply involved in competitive powerlifting—ranked tenth nationally in my weight class—and I coach and manage a powerlifting team. This balance of academic excellence and high-level athletic coaching allows me to bring discipline, motivation, and a supportive attitude into all my tutoring sessions.

About the lesson

I believe learning is most effective when it’s engaging, clear, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. My tutoring sessions focus on building strong foundational knowledge while developing problem-solving skills through interactive explanations, practical examples, and regular practice questions. I use a mix of visual aids, real-world applications, and step-by-step walkthroughs to make complex topics in biology and chemistry easier to understand and retain. Typically, lessons last 60 to 90 minutes, allowing enough time to cover theory, address questions, and review homework or exam practice. I encourage students to actively participate and ask questions to build confidence and independent thinking. As a third-year biomedical sciences student with first-class honours, I have hands-on experience from my placement year working in microbiology and materials science labs. This practical background helps me bring real-life context to the subjects I teach, making lessons more relatable and inspiring.
