About Jack
I am a first-year student at the University of Virginia on a pre-health track who earned a 4.0 unweighted GPA in high school. My tutoring experience began in 7th grade as a virtual peer tutor in my math class, and that's when I began to love helping others in a structured teaching role. Since then, I have taken pride in being a friend others can collaborate with in my high school classes, and I took on tutoring in AP Calculus AB and AP Physics 1. Additionally, in studying for the SAT, I learned about the tendencies the test possesses and ways to leverage the digital structure to your advantage. Beyond the classroom, I love exercising, surfing, spending time outside, and enjoying time with friends.

Sessions begin before the lesson with brief communication regarding what you'd like to cover. I will then develop a tailored lesson plan that is heavily practice-based. Practice will be guided with scaffolding- a practice by which students gradually get more independent- and out loud thinking so that mistakes can be easily corrected and concepts strongly reinforced. Students will grow after learning new information at the beginning of a lesson and putting it to work with these interactive practices.
As a tutor, I pride myself in being able to resonate with students and understand their thought processes, as I have recently been in their same shoes. Being a current student helps me make sure that I am not too hasty or unclear in my teaching .
Lessons are designed for students looking to improve their SAT math score, students in math classes ranging from elementary math to calculus (up to AP Calculus AB) , and students in mechanics physics classes (up to AP physics 1).
