About Suchet
Studied music from age 6, starting with hindustani classical vocal music, then tabla.
After a number of years studying tabla, I began studying other percussion instruments, notably yidaki (didgeridoo), djembe, darbouka, bongos, cajon and framedrums.
In my professional career, I am a multi-percussionist. I perform, record, compose and run workshops. I've played for the President of India and performed at the World Economic Forum.
After a number of years on stage, I began teaching in 2004. I mostly teach 1-on-1, adapting the class to the students' unique needs and skills.

I work with students to bring out their best, whatever skill levels or reasons for learning you have.
I see music as a joy to practice, and learning and playing is the journey that gets you there.
Classes are relaxed yet focussed, with ample time for your questions. At the end of each class I summarise the learning and send that as a voice note, so you have a recorded overview of what you just studied.
Lessons will typically have – a welcome and recap, warm up and technical exercises, continuity from the previous lesson, study of the repertoire (listen/play and repeat until learnt), and time for questions and summarisation. I may also give exercises for further development (to be practiced at home).
I also give students the theoretical background and knowledge/context of what we are studying, and point you to music and other resources you can additionally dig into or practice/play along with.
Whether you play to express yourself, experience joy, and/or aim to develop into a professional, we will work together to develop your passion and expand your knowledge and skills.
I work with all levels of students.
Percussion instruments that I teach:
1. Tabla
2. Djembé
3. Didgeridoo (Yidaki)
4. Darbouka
5. Cajon
6. Bongos
7. Frame drums
Labguages I teach in – English, Hindi, French and Dutch.

Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I started learning Darbuka with him as my teacher, and over time he became much more than a teacher, he became a mentor and a true friend. From him, I not only learned music but also valuable life lessons on becoming the best version of myself. Learning under his guidance has been a truly inspiring journey.
I began learning Darbuka from the very basics. Although I was already a Tabla player but his teaching helped me develop a much deeper understanding of rhythm, technique, and musical expression.
He is an exceptionally talented musician and an outstanding teacher. What makes him truly special is his ability to adapt his teaching style to each student’s level, goals, and learning pace. His lessons are always well-structured, systematic, and punctual. He teaches with great patience, humility, and a calm, positive attitude that makes every class both enjoyable and motivating.
Every lesson with him has been a valuable learning experience. He pays close attention to detail, encourages his students to grow, and creates an environment where learning feels natural, inspiring, and rewarding. His passion for music is evident in everything he does, and it shines through in his teaching.
I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who wishes to learn percussion. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced musician, you will receive professional guidance, individual attention, and high-quality instruction. Learning from him has been an incredible experience, and I feel fortunate to be his student.I’ve had the privilege of studying music with Suchet for over fifteen years, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He’s an exceptional musician with deep expertise in rhythmic structures, percussion, and both traditional and contemporary world music. His knowledge, and his intuitive way of teaching, has profoundly shaped how I approach music composition.
What makes him truly outstanding is his empathetic teaching style. He understands the challenges students face and helps them overcome them by tailoring his guidance to each learner’s needs. Beyond lessons, I’ve also collaborated with him on several national and international music projects, evolving from student to professional along the way. Throughout this journey, I’ve seen him train and mentor many young musicians who followed a similar path.
If you’re looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate mentor, I can highly recommend Suchet without hesitation.
