About Brent
I’m a credentialed California teacher with six years of classroom experience at the middle and high school levels. I earned my B.A. from UC Berkeley and completed my teaching credential at Sacramento State. My background includes working with students across a wide range of academic levels, learning needs, and support plans.
I now provide one-on-one tutoring and academic coaching across subjects and grade levels. I currently work with a Sacramento State student who came to me after struggling significantly in his first semester, and we’ve made major progress with organization, assignment completion, study habits, and managing a demanding five-course schedule.
I’m patient, straightforward, organized, and comfortable admitting when I need to research something rather than pretending to know every answer. My goal is to give students the structure and support they need while keeping the actual thinking and work in their hands.

My approach is less about standing over a student and lecturing from memory and more about helping them figure out how to succeed in the class they’re actually taking. We look at the assignment, course materials, deadlines, and where the student is getting stuck, then break the work into manageable steps.
I use technology heavily in that process, including AI tools for things like organizing course information, creating study materials, breaking down complicated instructions, and preparing individualized support. I don’t use AI to do a student’s work for them—the student still reads, thinks, writes, solves problems, and submits their own work.
My background is six years as a credentialed classroom teacher, and I currently work closely with a Sacramento State student who struggled significantly before we started working together. We’ve built systems for organization, studying, assignment completion, and managing a demanding five-course schedule, and the difference has been substantial.
I’m comfortable helping across subjects and grade levels. If I don’t immediately know something, I’m not going to pretend I do—we’ll find the information, understand it, and work through it together.
