About Katherine
I worked for years as a foreign correspondent, reporting from multiple countries before eventually shifting into full-time private teaching using everything that reporting work taught me. Twelve years into teaching now, I've guided approximately three hundred ten students, many of them professionals or students who wanted English tied to real substance, not artificial classroom material. My journalism background gives me a genuinely current, well-informed perspective that shapes every single lesson, keeping content relevant rather than stale or generic. I work particularly well with students who find typical textbook material boring, since I offer something built around genuine global events and real, substantive discussion instead. My teaching style is engaged and current, treating students as genuinely intelligent adults capable of discussing real ideas, not just repeating scripted classroom phrases. I have guided numerous students toward confident, articulate English, watching many develop genuine opinions and vocabulary around topics they previously felt unable to discuss at all.
