Hi! My name is Mimi, I am a former middle/high school English teacher who is passionate about students reaching their full potential. I believe every student learns differently and I enjoy watching students confidently learn new skills, and strengthen their existing abilities. My lessons are tailored to each individual student’s needs, goals, and unique learning style. As a former public school English teacher, with a degree in Language Arts Education, I hope to create a supportive and efficient environment for learning.
Depending on student needs, I focus on reading fluency and comprehension, writing skills, grammar, literary analysis, and test prep. I utilize a variety of strategies including scaffolding, guided practice, discussion, and targeted feedback to help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
For elementary learners, I focus on phonetic awareness and understanding in an age-appropriate and engaging manner to help establish a solid foundation of early literacy.
I also have experience with students who have learning disabilities, special needs, and autism.
