About Jake
Growing up in Singapore, America, Hong Kong and the UK has given me the opportunity to understand different education systems and ways of teaching, allowing me to become open-minded, adaptable, and empathetic.
I am a great believer in extra-curricular activities, playing sports such as Football and Rugby throughout school and University, and would always encourage my students to find hobbies and interests away from academic subjects.
I have a good sense of humour and understand that it can be very hard to study a subject you either are not a natural at or just don't enjoy. Therefore, I will endeavour to make my sessions fun and interactive, to keep students engaged throughout.

I appreciate that each student's learning style is different, and therefore my aim would be to create a personalised teaching plan and technique dependant on their skills, strengths, and areas for development. This will also include getting to know the student, so they feel both comfortable and confident to get things wrong, improve and engage with the content.
I am happy to vary lesson length depending on the student, but I believe 30 minutes to an hour is optimal for concentration. The session itself would broken up by different challenges personalised to the content needed.
I have experience in teaching Mathematics to senior school age students and I am currently in my final year as a Mechanical Engineering Student at the University of Bath.
