About Carson
I'm Carson, a full-stack software engineer with a bachelor's degree in software development from Utah Valley University and a Codecademy Full-Stack Engineer certification. I currently build web software for a living, working with React, Node, TypeScript, Python, and SQL. Before moving into software, I spent about five years in the solar industry, where I managed an engineering and CAD department of roughly 30 people and spent a lot of time training and onboarding new team members. I have also taught and mentored younger people through Boy Scouts. I enjoy breaking down tough topics into small steps and helping students feel confident, whether they are writing their first program or building a real project.

I teach programming in a hands-on, project-based way. We start with your goals, whether that is passing a class, learning to code from scratch, or building skills for a career change. I explain concepts in plain language, then we write code together so you learn by doing, not just watching. A typical session has a quick review, a new concept, and a small project or exercise you can keep working on afterward. I focus on JavaScript, Python, and SQL, and can also help with web development basics like HTML, CSS, and React. I have years of experience training and mentoring people, from Boy Scouts to onboarding and managing teams in the solar industry. Great for high school and college students and adult beginners.
