About Charlene

I believe there are good fit relationships between students and teachers, and there are some that are not so good. It doesn’t mean that the student isn’t good, it doesn’t mean that the teacher isn’t good, it just means that it isn’t a good match.

I am here for those who are compatible with my teaching style. While I do aim to get the job done, I like to have fun in the process, and have a personal connection with my students through learning all the aspects and nuances of communicating in American English. It’s important to understand how to have a sense of humor that people who speak American English can relate to. I feel it is important to me for my students to want to learn how to present themselves, not just know the rules of the English language.

I can certainly teach about punctuation and grammar, but it is also, and maybe even more important, to use pronunciation properly so that people can feel confident about understanding and being understood. It can be really important for some students to feel included, especially when it comes to social groups and gatherings where English is the predominant language.

Also, networking for business can be improved when others do not have to struggle to understand what you’re saying. A student could be perfect at reading, writing and even remembering every single word they ever learned in English, but if the pronunciation is not easily understood by the native English speaker, the student's mastery of the English language is nearly useless in verbal communication. A student of the English language can also feel a bond through popular vocabulary and trending phrases. But these have to be used correctly or it can potentially make the student seem silly.

Having a native American English Tutor will not only be much more useful for learning proper pronunciation, popular ways of speaking, and proper grammar, it will also give students of American English the opportunity to improve social skills through gaining insight about current American culture.

About the lesson

My unique approach to teaching is more like making a friend who teaches you how to speak better English. I help you not only get your true sentiment across using an appropriate vocabulary and phrases for presenting yourself as a charming and respectable person, but also, I can give you additional advice on how to improve communication skills to foster better connections with potential business partners, friends, love interest, etc. I like to help people find ways to incorporate a sense of humor in communication that isn’t awkward and actually helps build bonds of trust with others. When language is a barrier, trust becomes the most important factor in conversations.
I help with the foundation of communication as well as the nuances. Let’s chat and see if it’s a good fit. I can only help those who have a desire to immerse themselves in the process of effective communication.
