About Julia
I am a History major at Stony Brook University pursuing a Fast Track Master's in Teaching for Social Studies education, with minors in Creative Writing and Anthropology. I have three years of volunteer tutoring experience and have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students. My experience includes helping students strengthen their understanding of academic subjects, develop effective study habits, prepare for assessments, and improve their writing skills, including AP U.S. History preparation. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance, patience, and encouragement. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building skills, and gaining confidence in their abilities. As a future educator, I am passionate about making learning engaging, accessible, and meaningful for every student.

My tutoring approach focuses on making learning engaging, accessible, and tailored to each student's needs. I begin by identifying the student's strengths, challenges, and goals, then create lessons that build understanding and confidence. A typical session includes reviewing key concepts, working through examples together, practicing skills, and identifying areas for improvement. I emphasize critical thinking, clear communication, and effective study strategies rather than memorization alone. As a History major at Stony Brook University pursuing a Fast Track Master's in Teaching for Social Studies, I bring strong subject knowledge and a passion for education. I offer support in U.S. history, government and civics, social studies, essay writing, and study skills for middle and high school students.
