About Courtney

I am an experienced school-based educator currently working as a cover teacher and exam invigilator, giving me direct insight into how GCSE and A-Level coursework is assessed.
I specialise in supporting students with Art & Design and Photography, particularly those working towards GCSE and A-Level qualifications. My focus is not just on creativity, but on helping students understand assessment objectives, structure their coursework effectively, and develop stronger annotation and portfolio presentation skills.
Many students struggle not because they lack talent, but because they are unsure how to organise their ideas and demonstrate development clearly. I provide structured guidance to help students refine their themes, strengthen artist research, improve annotation quality, and plan final outcomes with confidence.
Sessions are supportive and patient, but also purposeful and goal-oriented. We work through clear steps so students understand what to improve and why — building both skill and independence over time.

My aim is to help students move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling organised, confident, and capable of achieving higher grades.

About the lesson

My Art & Design lessons are structured to support students working towards GCSE and A-Level outcomes, while still allowing room for individual creativity.
Sessions are tailored to each student’s current project, but always aligned with assessment objectives. Rather than working randomly on different techniques, we focus on strengthening the key areas that improve grades and portfolio quality.
Lessons may include:
• Developing and refining project themes
• Structuring effective artist research and analysis
• Improving annotation quality and depth
• Experimenting with materials purposefully
• Strengthening composition and visual impact
• Planning and refining final outcomes
