About Alexandra
I’m an experienced secondary school teacher and Head of Biology, with extensive experience teaching GCSE Science, including GCSE Chemistry, alongside Biology and Physics. I have supported students across a wide range of abilities, helping them develop secure understanding of key Chemistry concepts and the confidence to tackle challenging exam questions.
I hold a Master’s degree in Education, which has strengthened my understanding of how students learn and how to adapt teaching to meet individual needs. I’m experienced in identifying gaps in knowledge, addressing misconceptions and developing effective exam technique.
My lessons are structured, supportive and engaging. I break down complex Chemistry concepts into clear, manageable steps and use questioning, retrieval practice and exam-style questions to help students understand the content and apply it effectively.

Each Chemistry lesson is tailored to the student’s individual needs, whether they need to revisit difficult topics, fill gaps in their knowledge, prepare for an upcoming assessment or improve their exam technique.
We’ll begin by identifying areas that need the most attention before working through the content using clear explanations, questioning and retrieval practice. I’ll then use exam-style questions to help students apply what they have learnt and develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions.
Lessons are interactive and supportive, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and address misconceptions. I aim to make Chemistry feel less overwhelming by breaking complex ideas into manageable steps and helping students understand how the different areas of the subject connect.
The pace and content of each lesson will be adapted to the student, ensuring that every session is purposeful and focused on making progress.
