Hi! My name is Sophia Rene!
I graduated with a BA from Appalachian State University in Fine Arts and Art History.
I have curated shows throughout the east coast along with my own. I am located in New York chasing my dreams (:
My Teaching Style: Compassionate, creative, and challenging: a mix of work and fun that my students walk away from feeling proud and accomplished. As a fellow artist and as an educator, I’m gender-affirming and experience-affirming: I make sure to build trust so that my students can create work that is true to them. There's little more enjoyable than seeing my students experience growth and look at their new works with pride and satisfaction. I hope you will be one of them!
I have experience in curating shows and teaching at colleges and elementary-highschool. I believe my technique of teaching, reminds students that art doesn't have to be perfect, it's a vessel for enjoying what you are creating, discovering, and experiencing. Gaining knowledge on how to elevate your skills, craftsmanship, and your eye can take your art to many levels. I've noticed once students learn to separate that, the art itself becomes a part of them and the appreciation of the work becomes euphoric.
