About Portia
I am a passionate and professional tutor dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals while building confidence in their abilities. I pride myself on creating a supportive, respectful learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with their studies. When I'm not working or studying I will probably be with friends, somewhere outdoors or playing with my English bulldog named Hank. I hope to be a forensic or child/adolescent psychologist someday!

I take a student-centered approach to tutoring, tailoring each session to the individual’s learning style, goals, and pace. My focus is not just on helping students understand content in the moment, but on building their confidence and skills so they can become independent learners in the future. I use supportive teaching techniques such as guided problem-solving, active recall, and structured revision strategies to reinforce understanding and long-term retention. Lessons typically run between 40 and 90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs and the depth of content being covered. I have recently completed my Bachelor of Psychological Science and am currently undertaking Honors in Psychology, which has strengthened both my academic knowledge and research skills. Alongside this, my work as a disability support worker has given me extensive experience teaching people of all ages and abilities, adapting my communication style to suit each learner. I offer tutoring for both high school and university students, providing personalized academic support across varying levels of study.
