About Andrew
Andy is a highly respected guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music educator based in the West Midlands. Since 1990, he has taught hundreds of students of all ages, offering expert tuition in guitar, bass, ukulele, mandolin, and other stringed instruments. Renowned for his patient, individual approach to teaching, Andy is also Head of Guitar Studies at a leading Birmingham independent school.
Alongside his teaching career, Andy has built an international reputation as a performer and recording artist. Performing under the name Shankara Andy Bole, he has released more than 20 solo albums and collaborated with acclaimed artists including Daevid Allen, Gong, Damo Suzuki, members of Fairport Convention, and Electric Light Orchestra. His music blends folk, ambient, world, and contemporary influences, reflecting a lifelong passion for musical exploration and creativity.

I am a graduate from the Guildhall School of Music. I teach in one of the Midlands' top independent schools and teach Rock, Folk and Classical guitar styles. I have great success teaching students to pass grades with ABRSM, Rock School and Trinity College. I also teach Ukulele, Bass guitar, Banjo and Bouzouki. I will tailor lessons to the student's individual requirements. Lessons can be either 1/2 hour or 1 hour in length.
