About Max
I am originally from Melbourne, Florida, but moved to Boston in 2021 to begin my undergraduate studies in clarinet at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. After graduating, I began graduate studies at the New England Conservatory, where I am about to earn my Master's of Music degree. Outside of my conservatory studies, I am an avid freelancer in many orchestras in the Boston area. I have also been a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, whom I have accompanied on many tours to Europe, Mexico, and South Africa. In addition to these international tours, I have also attended a number of orchestral music festivals, including the Brevard Music Center, Eastern Music Festival, and the Buffet Crampon Clarinet Academy.

I have been playing clarinet since I was 12 years old, and believe that quality music education is important for personal and professional development. With a B.M. from Boston Conservatory and a M.M. from New England Conservatory, I am prepared to teach a wide variety of students, from young musicians beginning on the clarinet to adults looking to advance their musical skills.
Each lesson can be tailored to the specific student and their needs. Music is a deeply personal profession, and I am prepared to teach any student regardless of age or musical background.
While clarinet is my main study, I am also proficient in bass clarinet and saxophone as well.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Max Reed both as a fellow musician and as a teacher, and I can wholeheartedly recommend him to be anyone's clarinet instructor.
Max is not only an extraordinary clarinetist but also an exceptional listener, both musically and personally. His ability to engage deeply with the music and with his students creates an environment where learning feels natural and inspiring. As a colleague, I have learned a great deal from him: his musical insights and teaching methods have positively shaped my own growth.
Students and fellow musicians alike can rely on him to bring focus, patience, and encouragement to every lesson. He has a gift for making complex concepts feel approachable and for nurturing confidence in those he teaches.View more recommendations
